Student life study

The Kent State University Student Life Study will follow 10,000 undergraduates to graduation and beyond to better understand risk and protective factors for mental, physical, occupational, and social health during the transition to college and into young adulthood. This life stage is typified by rapid change, including new and fluctuating influence from daily habits, biological maturation, sociocultural pressures, shifts in family vs peer influence, exposure to new ideas and goals, among many others. Cutting-edge methodology allows the Student Life Study to collect unprecedented data on the day-to-day experiences of the modern-day college student and this research infrastructure can be leveraged to deliver personalized smartphone-based interventions to promote student well-being and success. Findings will be shared with university officials, providing up-to-the-minute insight that can be used to inform policy decisions in near-real time. Materials and methods will also be freely shared with colleges and universities around the country, with the goal of creating a nationwide network to enhance the college experience for millions of students.
